Match Report:
Due to a shortage of players , we only had 6 fresh starters for this game against a full strength Woolgoolga. 5 of our starting line up had already played at least half a game in Reserves, which was going to be a real test of our fitness. Our goalkeeper and both centre backs were out and both wingers were exhausted. Despite these problems we started extremely well and easily had the better of the first 20 minutes. However we could not put away a few good chances and as often happens, the opposition struck first with a quality goal. Another goal just before half time saw us under the pump at 2-0 down. We came out firing again in the 2nd half, and struck back to go to 2-1 after a great finish by Jaqui, set up by Kodie. Then Woopi snuck in a goal after a loose clearance in our box. 3-1 down with 20 to go and it was not looking good. To their credit the girls lifted and Kodie finished off another good move to get us to 2-3. Then with 10 to go an accidental handball in the box saw Woopi gifted a penalty. 2-4 and again we lifted, creating lots of chances, with Kodie finishing off another one to get us to 3-4. However it was all too late with only a couple of minutes left. This was an excellent effort despite the score. We dominated the 2nd half and just need to get all players to training & games to be a real force this season. Tilly Lugg again performed very well in the backs, while Aimee Longley controlled the midfield well.

Match Report:
We were again desperately short of players for various reasons, going into a game against a solid Woopi side. Only 18 players for 2 teams made things very difficult with several Premier League players having to fill in and back up for another game. Several of our key defenders were out and a number of players were forced to play out of position. We were under pressure from the start, struggling to contain a couple of Woopi's strong players out wide. Although we fought hard we could not control enough possession and some good long range shooting from Woopi saw us down 2-0 at half time The 2nd half was an improvement and while we created plenty of chances we could not finish them off, going down 4-1. Although we lost this one, there is plenty there to say we will be very competitive once we get all players back on deck. Strong efforts from Avalon & Alison in the backs, and Finchy also added a great deal in attack out wide.

Match Report:
Being 3 games into the season, the team has started to gel and it was great to see progress coming back to the game following the holidays. The match was difficult at first, with the girls pinned back within their own half for quite some time, but after about 15 minutes the game started shifting control. We've had a couple of difficult weeks defensively, but on this matchday we looked as robust and impenetrable as the Brisbane Broncos, with our opposition only managing 2 weak efforts in the first half. Unable to convert a few chances of our own, the girls went to the half time break with a scoreless first half. They had been more constructive with the ball and things were looking prospective for the second half. On our return to the field, having consumed an army of sugary snakes, a lapse in defense left us trailing a goal. However the girls demonstrated great teamwork and individual character, talking as a team and pushing their own limits. They outclassed the opposition across all aspects of the field; fitness, positioning and pure hunger for the ball. With 10 minutes to go Xanthi equalized, and although the lone goal was the only chance we managed to complete, another day could have seen us scoring 3 or more. Playing at Dorrigo can be difficult with the long drive, so we'd like to thank all the parents for their support and bringing the girls all the way. It's good to finally have a point on the ladder, but it was even better to see all the girls step up their intensity and demonstrate the new skills acquired from training! Well done girls - securing first points of the season with a draw !

Match Report:
The break over the holidays had the boys was evident as the boys took some time to find their rhythm on a warm and sunny morning in Sawtell. The ground was heavy after recent rain and some of the boys were feeling it.
The possession and play early was very even, both teams threatening to break through each others defence, but inconsistent passing and touch was letting both teams down. After a nervous start and an early injury to Haraj, the Storm backs began to perform solidly, keeping the Sawtell strikers well out of range.
Midway through the first half, the Storm attack started to find their form, with some more passes sticking, leading to a successful attacking raid where Ziggy Brown slotted the first goal passed the diving keeper.
The second half saw the Storm begin to dominate the possession, but the boys found it tough to pull the trigger, surrounded by Sawtell defenders in the box, until Ryan Gregorovic showed the way with a great shot from the 18 yard box finding the gap between the crossbar and the outstretched arms of the keeper... not too many u12 keepers are going to stop shots like that.
The Storm continued with their attacking raids though full credit goes to the Sawtell backs, who continued to turn up time and time again to shut them down. Ryan managed to get another great shot away toward the far post, taking the final score to 3-0.
A great team effort boys, well done. Special thanks this week to KV for providing some great photos again. Priceless moments and memories captured for the boys and their parents. Thanks mate, keep up the good work! Full set of photos from this weeks game are here

Match Report:
Maclean were a side that gave us plenty of trouble in 2015, and with most of our players having had a run in Reserves on a hot day were really concerned how we might hold up over 90 minutes. The first 70 minutes of this game sorted out any fears we might have had, as we proceeded to completely shut Maclean out of the match. An excellent possession and passing game gave our opposition no easy ball and we effectively closed down their golden boot winning striker. Some really creative attack meant we were constantly pressing the Maclean goal, and eventually they cracked under pressure. 2 goals each to Kodie & Holly either side of half time saw us 4-0 up with 20 minutes to go. The last 20 minutes was a little nerve wracking as we fatigued, however we managed to hold on strongly for a 4-2 win. Excellent work from Tilly Lugg playing out of position in the backs and a good job from Natasha Clancy in midfield, both having their first run in Premier League. This was an incredible effort from all players, and we now have a 2 week break to consolidate and get some players back on deck from injury.

Match Report:
Due to several injuries and players being away, we only had 9 Reserve Grade regulars and had to fill the gaps with a rotation of 1st Grade players. A total of 17 players for 2 teams was going to make things difficult on a very hot day at Maclean. Fortunately everyone stepped up a notch and we really dominated this game. We constantly shut down Maclean's attack and created many chances although the goals didn't start to flow for a while. Leading up to half time both Jaqui and Kodie managed to finish off some great lead up work to give us a 2-0 lead. Another goal just after the break gave us a good 3-0 buffer and we moved back to only 10 on the field to rest players for 1st grade. We still managed to finish off the game strongly and a 4-0 win was a good reflection of our efforts Great defending from Amy Gibbins and Avalon Donovan and some really good attack from Finchy, Kodie & Jaqui

Match Report:
Today marked a big occaision for the Hurricanes. The first use of the home dressing sheds at Korora! The boys were excited and took in the pre-match address from the coach with a real sense of occaision.
The match was sure to be a good one, with both teams coming off wins in the first round. Bellingen showed they have a good bunch of well drilled boys who held their position well and they had a great deal of speed about them as well.
But the boys from the Storm kept their heads and let the ball do the work to counteract the speed and size difference. 15 minutes into the match a fantastic shot from Jyden Pike across the front of the outstretched arms of the Bellingen keeper and into the far top corner of the net had the Storm in front 1 - nil.
Bellingen evened the score with a short while to go before half-time, and the boys knew they had a challenge to face.
Early into the second half, Bellingen scored another after some confusion at the back for the Storm (something for the coach to work on at training perhaps ??), and the boys were shocked back into action and they equalized almost immediately through a nice goal to Ryan Gregorovic.
From here on, both teams attacked and defended themselves to a standstill... the Storm were getting a few chances to pull the trigger, but with some much energy spent up and back on the field, there was precious little power getting behind the ball, and the Bellingen keeper had them covered. At the back, the Storm were turning away wave after wave of attack with some solid tackling and great scrambling where required. Speical mention here to Haraj Atwal for being in the right place at the right time to clear the ball out of our half when trouble was brewing.
A great effort overall against a strong opposition, well done boys. Full set of photos from this weeks game are here:

Match Report:
A delayed start at 4pm gave a few players time to recover from our Reserve grade game. Due to injury & absence we started the game with only 9 fresh players and in 30 degree heat.
The first 25 minutes were awesome, as we played the way we have trained in a long pre-season. Excellent passing and movement set up chance after chance, and some really good defence kept things tight at the back. A couple of great team goals finished by Kodie left us 2-2 at half time, as tiredness started to creep in.
The 2nd half was a frantic effort from both sides. Again we started on fire with some awesome play and went up 4-2 with 25 minutes to go. However things began to go off the rails as we ran out of fitness in the heat. With no fresh bench players we were struggling to shut down Urunga's midfield and a couple of long range shots found their mark. Then we snagged a goal back to go to 5-4. Urunga hit back with 10 to go and we were locked at 5-5!
The girls all lifted sensing an upset win and determined not to let this one slip away. Charlotte Dodd cracked a ball into the Urunga post with minutes left but we just couldn't find the back of the net.
All in all a very good effort against a top side, and with fitness and a full squad we will really be able to match it with the best this season. Player of the match was Jaqui Kambere due to a strong running game in midfield, repeatedly shutting down the dangerous Urunga players

Match Report:
A short staffed Storm Reserves side made the trip to Urunga for the inaugural Dixie & Rachel Erlandsen shield day. Having lost 3 players to injury during the week things were very tight with few subs on a very hot day.
The match was extremely tight, although the Storm girls definitely had the better of the first half, as early on we peppered the Urunga goal without success. As often happens Urunga struck back against the run of play just before half time, with a 1 in a million shot from the sideline and well outside the box.
Down 0-1 we came out firing again in the 2nd half and again had the better of the play. However our players were dropping like flies through heat and injury and we finished the game with no subs and just ran out of legs. Still a good performance first up against what seems to be a stronger Urunga side than last season. We have plenty to work with and once we have all players back on deck things are looking good. Player of the match was Paige Channells with some excellent swerving runs down the right wing.

Match Report:
First up game for the under 14’s was a grand final replay against Sawtell who the storm have played in the grand final for the past two seasons. The off season saw six new players come into the team and some familiar faces move on and although having a good pre-season we were not sure how we would match up on the day. With the hot temperatures and only one fit substitute it was going to be test with the hot weather for an 11.30 kick off. In the early stages the storm dominated the game crafting out a number of opportunities, unfortunately none were converted as three very good chances went begging. Sawtell looked dangerous in patches but never really threatened the storm goal as we dominated field position and ball security. Luke Walker dealt with everything that came his way and looked to having everything covered in goal. With his defenders providing a high pressure defence, Sawtell were struggling to get anything inside our box. After twenty minutes the storm had their first goal, a neat move finished by Robbie Sullivan who held is nerve and slotted home from the edge of the area. Five minutes later the storm were up 2-0, this time Jaman with his first appearance for the storm struck home from outside the box, putting it into the roof of the net giving the Sawtell keeper little chance. With chances being created and smart play by Mabiyor Garang and Blake Austin, the score was flattering the hosts at the half time break. But 2-0 in this game is a score line you would take every day of the week. The second half started much as the first with the storm carving out a number of good chances, 10 min in and a killer ball in between defenders by Harry O’Geary put it on a plate for Blake Austin who timed his run to perfection and slotted home from 12 yards with a cool head. At 3-0 it was a question of how much but to their credit Sawtell pressed and as the we tired in the heat and a couple of boys on one leg the opposition somehow started to gain possession with 15 to go got one back, then a mix up and they had 2 back and it was game on for the final ten minutes and all the momentum had swung. Several important saves by Luke Walker kept them at bay and we picked up our heads and got back on the job with some great defending, with several break away runs as Sawtell searched for an equalizer we should have put the game to rest but in the end 3-2 was enough and an excellent result. A good start to the season but I think the boys know they need to play for the whole game and not give their opposition an opportunity. To get back into the game. Hard to pick out best on ground, a great team effort. Man of the Match Luke Walker.

Match Report:
Playing as a team for the first time, the game was filled with plenty of other firsts. Although we were outsized by our opponents the team put in a solid fight with lots of drama throughout the game. From initial surprises with field size, pushing fitness levels to the limits and a quick review of the rules of the game; there was a steep learning curve. Somewhere in all the chaos that was literally end-to-end. Matilda O'Brien managed to score our first goal on a brilliant solo run as we headed into half time down by a goal (2-1). Although our passing game looked better and chances were plentiful, the goal keeping and pressure applied by CCUFC was commendable - demonstrating why they were so tough to beat last year! Unfortunately, a combination of fitness and defensive mistakes led to back-to-back goals. Regardless, the fighting spirit of the cyclones was visible until the full time whistle, with not even a single player holding their heads down or their hands on their hips. The girls made plenty of chances, with both Grace and Sophie hitting the frame of the goals on separate occasions. Commendations should also be given to Riley who started her first game as a goalkeeper and produced multiple great 1 on 1 saves. All in all, although we still have some basics to iron out, there were many lessons learnt from the match. Being the first time the club has field an all girls team for this age group, the girls put forward a valiant effort and can only go up from here!

Match Report:
This was the first game on the full field for all these players, most of which have skipped under 11s to fill some spaces in the under 12s ranks. There were a lot of parents sideline expecting the boys to be worn out after the first 10 minutes...
From the kickoff, the Storm boys took charge, with a great set of passes up the field in attack and within the first couple of minutes, the ball was in the back of the net. And again from the restart, the Hurricanes kept control of the ball playing some great passing football, holding postions well and using the space to their advantage. The first 15 minutes yeilded 4 goals, and it was becoming clear that the Storm had their opposition's number on this day.
To their credit the Pumas kept getting up and giving their all on was a very hot and tough day for them, managing to break through into open space late in the first half to score a goal. The second half brough more of the same, some good skill and control let the Storm players cut through the defense almost at will. At the end, it was 15 to the Storm and the single goal to the Pumas.
Special mention goes to new recruit Dylan Vandermaat, first game of soccer ever, had a good half in goals, and some solid defending on the field in the second half. Keep it up Dylan! Scorers: Jyden - 5 Sam M - 4 Ryan - 2 Sam G - 2 Ziggy - 1 Haraj - 1

Match Report:
In hot conditions our Blizzards got the year off in style. Woolgoolga are a good side with a number of rep players and a good coach. We started slowly and were down 2 nil early on, we pegged one back but went into halftime 3- 1 down. Some close chances to Luke McLennan and Leon nearly closed the gap. The boys at halftime were reminded of the need to let the ball do as much work as possible, to talk more, and to make the easy pass to a team mate. Some great goalkeeping by both our keepers for this game, Luke Green and Ethan Brooks kept us in the match, some clever defending by Lachlan Sullivan as well was fantastic. We went down 5 to 2 and we decided to at this stage have a red hot go as I know the boys can score goals and quickly, with some excellent teamwork and passing , with Nelson Sharp leading the way we managed to snag 3 late goals to level the game. Special mention to Campbell Brear for the 3 goals late, but as he knows he couldn’t have scored without his teammates. We haven’t trained yet this year, made some errors coming out of trouble, at goal kicks etc , but the boys will improve out of sight going forward and a good year beckons. Michael Brear |

Match Report:
The under 11 hurricanes got off to a great start in the under 11's South league with a victory over the Nambucca strikers. The game finished with a 2 goal margin but could have been far more if it were not for the heroics of the Nambucca goalkeeper who staked a fine claim for man of the Match. With a skeleton squad the Hurricanes had to draw on the under 10's to make up numbers but nobody was disappointed in what came into the team. Having the core of their team depleted to fill a new under 12's team, the kids who remained stuck to their guns and made damn sure that nobody was missed. Led by the impenetrable Tahliya Sambrook and aided in an accomplished display of ferocious tackling by the monstrous efforts of Fletcher Knight this storm team was not conceding a goal today. The game was end to end for the first 10 minutes with no sign of a goal from either team. Mark McCarthy, Tahliya Sambrook, Jake Kilo and Jazz Porter stung the palms, chest, legs and face of the Nambucca keeper but he thwarted each and every one of them. It wasn't until a fine tackle from Milla Black who was under enormous pressure behind the break enabled her to play a fine ball down the line to Charlie McCarthy who dummied the Nambucca defender with a sly step over inwards which enabled him to lay off a pass to Sambrook who in turn faked a shot and rolled a peach of a pass to Knox Porter who bulged the back of the top left corner with a cracker of an effort. With half time approaching the backs were to the wall, Black, Knight and Kilo were like 3 brick walls and held off the Nambucca onslaught enabling the storm to go into the break with their lead in tact. The 30' heat, and without sub on the bench meant a few tactical changes needed to be made, Knox Porter made the switch to the back, Charlie McCarthy took the gloves off the rock who is Breah Fischer and Jazz Porter took the line in the centre forward position. The storm were by far the better team second half with some incredible chances going astray, Fischer who had come into the centre of the field can count herself very unlucky to have missed placing her name on the score sheet with some cracking efforts that were either denied by the inspired Nambucca keeper or by narrowly missing the target. It was all storm but they couldn't beat the keeper, again McCarthy from the under 10's couldn't follow up on his 5 goals against the lions an hour earlier, Jake Kilo came within a hares breath on 2 occasions and Jazz Porter put 2 narrowly wide. The storms only worry was being caught on the break and it nearly happened with 10 minutes remaining when their striker let rip a screamer which was destined for the top corner only for McCarthy in goals to parry it around for a corner. The corner came in and fell to Sambrook, she broke, dropped a shoulder, around one, ... Went left, went right, around two.. Played a short pass to McCarthy who nutmegged one and rolled the ball back to her where she let fly to the top corner. A goal befitting of any man of the match. Over all a fantastic performance from a team who started the game with a hint of doubt, some incredible debuts from Knight, Black and Kilo, and a display of passing that would befit any team in the club.
