Match Report:

Being 3 games into the season, the team has started to gel and it was great to see progress coming back to the game following the holidays.

The match was difficult at first, with the girls pinned back within their own half for quite some time, but after about 15 minutes the game started shifting control. We've had a couple of difficult weeks defensively, but on this matchday we looked as robust and impenetrable as the Brisbane Broncos, with our opposition only managing 2 weak efforts in the first half. Unable to convert a few chances of our own, the girls went to the half time break with a scoreless first half. They had been more constructive with the ball and things were looking prospective for the second half.

On our return to the field, having consumed an army of sugary snakes, a lapse in defense left us trailing a goal. However the girls demonstrated great teamwork and individual character, talking as a team and pushing their own limits. They outclassed the opposition across all aspects of the field; fitness, positioning and pure hunger for the ball. With 10 minutes to go Xanthi equalized, and although the lone goal was the only chance we managed to complete, another day could have seen us scoring 3 or more.

Playing at Dorrigo can be difficult with the long drive, so we'd like to thank all the parents for their support and bringing the girls all the way. It's good to finally have a point on the ladder, but it was even better to see all the girls step up their intensity and demonstrate the new skills acquired from training!

Well done girls - securing first points of the season with a draw !
