Mens Reserve Grade - Round 11 vs Urunga Raiders

Match Report Round 11

Northern Storm  vs. Urunga  Raiders

A cold windy afternoon at Korora today with arch rivals the Storm and Urunga facing off. The game started with both teams playing good foot ball the positional play and passing skill from both teams was great. However the Storm was under pressure when we lost two strike players with injuries early in the first half. Urunga were first to score with a goal in the 23rd minute by Luke Pomroy from a free kick caused by a sloppy slide tackle in the box. The storm bounced back 1 minute later with Enoch Marc scoring after some fantastic team passing. The game progressed and Urunga found the net again in the 36th minute with Emar Foran scoring a good goal. I believe Emar was Urunga’s best player to day so we will need to keep a close watch on him. The Storm kept their heads up wanting to win this game and in the 43rd minute Keiran Clerke without the dread locks scores a great header to level the score 2 all at half time.

The second half began and Urunga kept the pressure on the Storm. We knew it was going to be a tough half with no substitutes to draw from. However there were no goals scored in the second half and the boys stood up to keep the game at 2 all at full time. It was a game we could have won lads if we can get some of you guys to pass the ball instead of holding it too long and wanting to be the star of the game all the time. Some of our boys need to understand this is a team game. It’s the team that wins games not individuals. Our man of the match this week is Enoch Marc well done mate. Thanks this week to the Storm and Urunga supporters it was a great day and hope to see you all at our next game.
