Mens 1st Dvision - Round 5 vs Coffs Tigers

First Grade – report by Colin Scully

A one minute silence for the ex Coffs Tigers player Kodjo Adjassou was observed prior to the commencement of the game.

Not sure how this affected the players however this was not a pretty game to watch.

In the first half Storm were in disarray due mainly to “rushing” their passes. We did not keep possession of the football and left too many gaps across the pitch. Even our discipline was thrown out the door. The score could have been anything in the first half yet finished nil all at the break.

The second half was better but was still scrappy. Both sides could have scored many goals and congratulations to both keepers who made fine saves. Again our lack of control and possession let us down as did our discipline. It was a frustrating game as play was stopped far too often by the referee. Unfortunately our lads must understand that the ref will not change his decision – arguing with the ref or making smart comments simply costs us yellow cards and in this game it also cost a red card even after the game had finished.

Storm did not score until 2 minutes from the finish of the game courtesy of a good through ball from Mykel Watson which found Brendon Myers who dribbled around the defence and the keeper to slot home the winner.

Well done to Marual Mangar who stepped up from Reserves into the starting line up once again. Also congrats to Daniel Anyrjong who played half a match in Reserves and then came on at the break in First Grade – both lads played well.
