NORTHERN STORM - MATCH REPORTS
Senior Mens
Round 12 – against Coffs United
First Grade – report by Colin Scully
This was a game that got away
from us. After a very fast start and only 3 minutes into the game Coffs scored
what must be said a very soft goal due to a defensive error. This did not deter
our lads at all. In fact Storm were the dominant team throughout the first half
and deserved an equaliser which was scored by Grant Scully just before half
time.
Shortly after the resumption of
play, Coffs scored a runaway goal in the 9th minute followed 7
minutes later by another goal. Our formation throughout this period of play was
nowhere near as good as in the first half. In the 17th minute Brendon Myers scored for Storm and it appeared that
Storm would push on following this goal. However our lack of finishing up front
and poor man marking at the back let us down once again. Coffs then scored
their 4th goal in the 22nd minute of the second half and
unfortunately Storm became frustrated and were unable to regain their momentum.
It must be said there were many
players who had exceptional games and I repeat that the first half was pleasing
to watch and we could have scored more goals. Keep up the first half intensity
and possession lads and we will win a lot more matches.
