Women's Reserve Grade - Round 21 vs Woolgoolga Wildcats

13/5 vs Woolgoolga

Yes Round 21 is correct. Due to our comp having 3 extra rounds added on we have 3 midweek games to play, and this was the first of them.

After our loss to Boambee we need to bounce back, and we started this game really well , putting together loads of good combinations in midfield , along with the sensational form of winger Holly Ide , who simply carved Woopi up every time she got the ball. Holly got a number of excellent crosses into the middle but we could not quite finish one off. Finally Charlotte Dodd hit the back of the net off one of these, only to be ruled offside.

After dominating most of the first half the unthinkable happened, a couple of mistakes in front of goal saw Woopi put away a very scrappy chance and we were down 0-1. Not to be outdone we soon got back to even with an excellent through ball leading to a quality finish from Pariss Rhodes.

The 2nd half followed a similar pattern, we clearly dominated possession and had multiple scoring chances but couldn’t quite convert them. Against the run of play Woolgoolga then got one up on us with a floating cross drifting over the keepers outstretched hands. Down 1-2 we pressed an extra player forward and went all out attack , the chances kept coming but we still couldn’t finish them off , and the game ended on that score

Despite the loss there was plenty to be pleased about from this game. Personally I have never seen a team dominate the chances so much and lose a game , and our passing & possession is really starting to click into gear.

Special mention to Holly, Ainslie, Clare & Aimee who all had great games
