Mens Reserve Grade - Round 1 vs Woolgoolga

Round 1 Match Report Korora Vs Woolgoolga Men’s Reserve Grade

It’s great to have the footy season underway for 2014. The match today Sunday the 30th March, 2014 between Northern Storm and Woolgoolga at the cove was a hard slog for both teams. The heat and humidity took its toll on all players. The storm hit out first with a great goal from James Mangar in the 1st minute, his first goal in reserve grade, well done James. Three minutes later our new recruit Scott Tarlinton scored a terrific goal, great stuff Scotty and welcome to the team. The Storm went into half time 2 nil up.

The second half started with all players struggling with the hot conditions. It wasn’t until the 22nd minute of the second half when Khamis Marial scored a goal with some great footwork and ball skills, it was his first goal in reserve grade, well done Khamis. Woolgoolga had their moments in the game with a goal scored by Cadan Glattback in the 29th minute but it was too little too late. Five minutes later Daniel Harris with his experience put the game to rest with a great goal making the full time score 4-1 win to Northern Storm.

A special mention to Nigussie Gebrihwot and Marual Mangar for their standout performances today. However our man of the match goes to Majok Anyong for stepping up from 2nd division to play and putting in a solid performance in our backline, well done Jookie. It’s great to have two new coach players this year with Matthew Bennet and Scott Murphy. They came with a wealth of experience and I’m sure they will turn this young relatively new team into a really competitive team this year. Welcome Matt and Scotty and let’s bring it on Yip Yah.
