Mens Reserve Grade - Round 11 vs Boambee Bombers

The game on Sunday 23rd of June at 12:00pm was played at Ayreshire Park. Boambee and Storm played the game safe and very structured, it was difficult for passes to find there mark due to the ground being uneven and extremely hard. I think this frustrated the Storm more so then Boambee due to it being there home ground. It was in the 17th minute when John Mangar opened up the scoring for the Storm. Boambee seemed to step up a notch after the goal and kept the score 1-0 to the Storm at half time.

The second half started strong and the Storm for the first time in a few weeks were enjoying the game and were playing as a team. Our defence was fantastic and our boys kept Boambee scoreless for the game. It was great to see Noah Bedford back on the field after suspension. It was hard for the coach this week to pick the man of the match with four players in contention, Noah Bedford, Callum Smith, Cameron Jones and John Mangar. The winner being Noah Bedford, well done Noah a well deserved win for a solid game. However in the 23rd minute of the second half John Mangar scored his second goal for the game followed by a goal from Daniel Anyijong in the 31st minute of the second half. Only a small criticism for the storm was to many times we held the ball for too long. The opportunities were missed when our strikers were free the ball just didn’t get up there. I’m sure the coach will sort that out on Tuesday’s training. The final score for the game was 3-0 to Northern Storm.

I would like to say thanks to Boambee for a good clean game and congratulate your young team for a big effort today. For the Northern Storm well done to all the team you’re a great bunch of blokes and let’s steam on to the finals yip yah!
