Men's 1st Division - Round 14 vs Coffs City United Lions

Storm defeat Lions 4-1

WOW WOW WOW – what a game!!!!!!!!!!! What a RESULT!!!!!!!!!!!!

Firstly, on behalf on the coaching staff and the 2012 First Grade Squad. I would like to thank ALL the supporters of the Club who turned up to help this squad WIN at home. Special thanks to John Widdowson who must have sent a million text messages to so many people, It seemed the whole of the Over 35’s were there and I can tell you your support was greatly appreciated.

I would now like to mention a few facts:

  • This is the first time in the Club’s history that the First Grade squad has ever beaten Coffs United and I can tell you it will not be the last time!
  • The last time the Club won a premiership was in 2003 – nine years ago – when the Reserve Grade squad triumphed – three players in that squad are in this years FIRST Grade squad, Jason Hart, Brendon Myers and Grant Scully.
  • The Club has never won a FIRST Grade minor premiership or Grand Final major premiership – Will this be the year????????????

Now, we must congratulate our squad for their very disciplined approach – prior to the start of the match Coach Jade Porter spoke about how there is no one else on the park other than a Storm player so there was need for anyone to speak or take any notice of anyone else other than a Storm player. We also have to congratulate our squad for carrying out instructions and doing so in a professional manner. How good is it to see every player supporting every other player.

I would now like to encourage ALL supporters of the Club to join with us on our Journey to the Minor Premiership and Finals Series. We know every game from herein is a stepping stone to the FINALS and we will treat every game with the utmost respect. Most importantly, how good would it be to have a HOME Semi Final with all our passionate supporters cheering us on at The Cove, Korora.

Our Journey to the Finals is as follows:

  • Sunday 5th August – Urunga at Urunga – kick off 2pm
  • Sunday 12th August – Woolgoolga at Korora – Kick off 2pm
  • Sunday 19th August – Boambee at Boambee – kick off 2pm
  • Sunday 26th August – Maclean at Korora – kick off 2pm

Note: Youth Reserve Grade kicks off at 12pm

Cheers
