Northern Storm Football & Sports Club was established in February 1994 as Korora Soccer and Sports Club Inc. However, the name was changed in 2004 to allow for use of the York Street playing fields in conjunction with the already-used Plantain Road Oval in Korora. Some of the club's great successes have included qualifying for the prestigious HBF Champion of Champions (a competition for the best club sides in NSW) on a number of occasions:
2008 – 11 Boys – 2nd Round (won 6-1 against Quakers Hill, lost 2-1 to Connells Point)
2008 – 12 Boys – 1st Round (lost 1-0 to Seven Hills)
2007 – 14 Boys – 1st Round (lost 7-0 to Macarthur)
2006 – 12 Girls – 2nd Round (Bye, lost 1-0 to Ku-Ring-Gai)
2006 – 11 Boys – 1st Round (lost 5-0 to Eastern Suburbs)
2005 – 14 Girls – 3rd Round (won 4-1 against Southern Districts, won 1-0 against Ku-Ring-Gai)
2005 – 11 Boys – 1st Round (lost 3-2 to Southern Districts)
2005 – 13 Boys – 1st Round (lost 8-0 to Southern Districts)
2005 – 16 Boys – 1st Round (lost 2-0 to Southern Districts)
2004 – 10 Boys – 1st Round (lost 5-0 to St. George)
along with several other teams under the ‘Korora’ name prior to 2004.
The team's training ground and junior/SSG playing ground, York Street Oval, underwent a significant upgrade in drainage in 2003. It is widely regarded as one of the best sporting complexes in the Coffs Harbour region.
The 2007 season was the club's most successful so far. The Men's 1st Division side placed 3rd in the regular season, losing 3-1 to Sawtell Scorpions in the Minor Semi-Final. The Men's Reserve Grade side were runners up in the regular season, and lost 6-5 on penalties to Urunga Raiders in the semi-final. The club's Under 14s side (see above) won the NCF Minor and Major Premierships, as well as the NNSWF Zone Championships, and qualified for the Champion of Champions and Manchester United Premier Cup competitions.
The club’s Men’s First Division and Women’s First Division teams have achieved mixed successes over the years. However, the club has recently begun a new era, ironically by turning to seasoned club stalwarts for direction - the club will commence the 2011 season under the guidance of Jade Porter and Brian Lacey for Men's 1st Division, Will Randall for Youth League, and Craig Standing for 3rd Division.
